Social Media NewsAs an industrial and/or manufacturing business, you are busy creating a product, selling and servicing, and making sure your customers are happy.   Sometimes it is hard to keep up with changes in social media in the online world.

Social Media News

I thought I would share a few tidbits of news to keep you up to date:

Facebook

Facebook began introducing additional “face recognition” features.  They added additional ways to use face recognition besides tags.  You can do things like”
• Find photos you’re in but haven’t been tagged.
• Help protect you from strangers using your photo.
• Provide people with visual impairments a way for machines to tell who’s in your photo or video.
The best part is you get to control how much Facebook uses “face recognition”.   The setting will be automatically turned on, but you can turn it off at anytime.
Facebook is hinting they will be adding additional “face recognition” features in the future.

Job Applications on Facebook

Another new feature on Facebook is the ability to apply for jobs right on Facebook.  Applying for a job just got so much easier.
Finding a job is quick, easy and free. You can find jobs in the Jobs dashboard at facebook.com/jobs and the “Jobs” option in the “Explore” section on mobile, by clicking the Jobs icon in Marketplace, or visiting the Jobs tab of a business’ Page.
When you’re ready to apply for a role, you can create an application, which will populate with job history and other information in your Facebook profile. You can edit your application before you submit it.

Twitter

Twitter has launched bookmarks that allow you to save tweets privately. To use the feature, you’ll click on a new “share” icon that’s found to the right of the Favorite (heart) button. From there, you’ll have the option to share the tweet in a variety of ways – including bookmarking it, DM’ing it, or via other methods – as had been previously available through the top-right drop-down menu.

When you want to view your saved tweets, you’ll tap your Profile icon to reveal the menu where the Bookmarks list will be found alongside other options like Twitter Lists and Moments.
