Yesterday, April 5, was “Read a Road Map” Day – National Read a Road Map Day reminds us to take some time to sharpen those map reading skills. Can you read a traditional road map? With today’s electronic devices, many people never look at a map.
Maps can show you where routes, major highways, streets, and roads are located. It shows you where rivers, major cities and points of interest can be found. A map helps you navigate to where you want to be.
As I looked at a map it made me think about business and our road to success.
Just like you need a roadmap to drive somewhere if you don’t have GPS, you need a plan for your business. Without a plan, you are just going along aimlessly hoping you will end up a success. You try this and that and easily get off track because you don’t really know where you are going.
A business plan is a written description of your business’s future. You need to know where you want to end up? What your goals are? And have some type of plan for getting to your destination. Your plan shows how you will get from here to there.
So ask yourself, “Do I know where I want to go in my business?” “Do I have a plan?”
If not, now is a great time to start making one.
Next time you are taking a trip, get out the road map and try using it!
