Memorial Day Weekend Marketing

The first thing that comes to mind when someone says “Holiday Marketing” is…  Are we starting to promote Christmas already?

There are a lot more holidays than just Christmas.  Memorial Day Weekend is this coming weekend.

If you have followed me on social media, you know I like to fish.

I read about a Memorial Day Weekend promotion that Mountain Dew is running.

Mtn Dew is focusing on outdoor enthusiasts who are set to fish at their favorite ponds, streams, rivers, and lakes this Memorial Day weekend with a promotion that aims to make sure no one goes home empty-handed. No fish? No problem — the Pepsi Co. brand will Venmo $20 to the first 5,000  entrants who show that they didn’t catch a fish.

Starting at 9 a.m. CT on May 28, 2022 consumers can tweet a photo of their empty hook, hands, cooler, or bucket by the water and tag @MountainDew and #DewOpeningDayGiveaway.

Pilot Flying J gas stations has named the Friday before Memorial Day National Road Trip Day. The retailer is helping travelers fulfill their road trip dreams with a $50,000 fuel giveaway and summer deals. To enter, consumers can visit Pilot Flying J’s Facebook from May 25-29 to share road trip favorites, memories, and photos.

You don’t have to be a national brand to come up with a holiday promotion.   Thinking out of the box is what local marketing is all about.   The one thing I will say about Memorial Day is to remember why we celebrate this holiday.  Memorial Day is that day in the united states where people remember the ones who were far ahead in patriotism and dedication to the nation. They were brave, courageous, and inspiring, and they deserved to be remembered for centuries to come. This national holiday started after the civil war when people wanted to grieve and show gratitude to martyrs for their sacrifice. People would decorate the graves of fallen soldiers, with time especially after world war I, this day turned into memorial day. Americans all over the country started to honor every soldier’s death and not just civil war’s fallen, heroes. Now Memorial day is witnessed all over the country on the last Monday of May with national and local events.

For one of our clients who we manage their Local SEO, we write a blog every year that is focused on the Memorial Day Weekend Activities 2022 for their specific city.  We post it a couple of weeks before the Memorial Day Weekend, so Google and the other search engines will pick up the blog.  These types of blogs get a lot of visits, sometimes 10 times the amount of normal traffic.  Not everyone reading this type of blog may need their services, but all we need is to reach some of them.

Holiday Marketing is a great way for both national brands and local businesses to reach potential customers.

I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day Weekend.  Memorial Day: Never Forget, Forever Honor.
