Let’s Hear It For Manufacturers!

Manufacturing DayToday is Manufacturing Day!  I want to give a big shout out to all the manufacturers in the Houston area.

Manufacturing Day is an annual event in North America.  Manufacturers open their doors to showcase the potential of modern manufacturing and foster interest in manufacturing careers.

Manufacturing Misconceptions

The average person, if they don’t have a connection to manufacturing doesn’t know that it is alive, well and thriving.  Manufacturing is one of the primary drivers of the North American economy. They may think we don’t make anything anymore, or that all manufacturing has moved to China, but they are wrong. They may still harbor the belief that it’s dangerous and dirty.

Modern manufacturing environments are commonly thought of as dark, dangerous factories designed for low-skilled workers. Manufacturing Day addresses this misperception by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors,  They can show, in a coordinated effort, what manufacturing really is today:

• Manufacturing is technologically advanced, with ample use of automation, 3-D printing, robots, and screen technology.
• The annual average salary of manufacturing workers is more than $77,000.
• Manufacturers have the highest job tenure in the private sector.
• 90 percent of manufacturing workers have medical benefits.

Manufacturing’s Big Comeback

Manufacturing is making a comeback in the United States.   Company initiatives, federal and state policies support new technologies that make American manufacturing globally competitive.  Thus creating businesses and jobs across the country. Manufacturing Day celebrates this momentum driven by innovation. You can celebrate it too!

NAVCO.us as one of the manufactures I work with. Their site is designed to help technical and non-technical buyers. They have a Find A Distributor section to help potential clients find the distributor in their area. They also provide contact info for NAVCO the manufacturer for any technical questions.

Manufacturer’s Questions Created a Book

The book, 52 Tips to Turn Your Website Into a Sales Machine, came from questions that many of my manufacturing clients brought up in our meetings regarding their websites.  After answering many of the same questions multiple times with different manufacturers, I wrote a book to help thrm.  You can find my book on the Upstream Marketing website, scroll to the bottom of the page or select it on Amazon.  Please take a moment to check it out.
