Many people come to your website for a variety of reasons, but you want them to stay, browse around and read your posts. How do you entice them to stay? The number one way is to provide valuable content.

Tip #24 Clarity

When writing content for your site, get to the point as quickly as possible. If they don’t need this information to encourage them to make the call to action you want, cut it out. It is OK to leave white space on the page, it makes what is important standout.

Tip #25 Write For People to Read

We are not writing a novel, avoid long paragraphs of text.

People don’t read a website; they skim it for the most important parts that are relevant to them.

If you do write a long paragraph, be aware that your reader will most likely only read the first and last sentence, so make those the most impactful. If possible, try to break those long paragraphs down into shorter ones.

With the popularity of Twitter and visual marketing, attention spans are short. Your reader will retain more if you write less, get to the point and provide only the information necessary.
