The CALM Act is meant to protect viewers from excessively loud commercials.
The CALM Act governs broadcast TV as well as cable and satellite. So if you watching Direct TV, Comcast or true broadcast TV, you are covered.
The FCC adopted the CALM Act a year ago, but gave the industry a one-year grace period for them to adopt.
Now you can watch Gold Rush, Sunday Night Football, NCIS, CSI without the following blaring louder than normal.
