Ever notice when you’re watching your favorite TV show and it breaks for a commercial, the commercial sounds louder than the show your were watching?   It was not your hearing, this is has been happening for years.

Your TV viewing could get a little calmer today.

The CALM Act, which limits the volume of TV commercials, goes into effect today.

Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation (CALM) is designed to prevent TV commercial from being louder than the program content they accompany.

The CALM Act is meant to protect viewers from excessively loud commercials.

The CALM Act governs broadcast TV as well as cable and satellite.  So if you watching Direct TV, Comcast or true broadcast TV, you are covered.

The FCC adopted the CALM Act a year ago, but gave the industry a one-year grace period for them to adopt.

Now you can watch Gold Rush, Sunday Night Football, NCIS, CSI without the following blaring louder than normal.
