Business Has Gone to the Dogs!

Shelter DogDo you have a pet?  I sure do!  My dog, Haddie,  is a shelter adoption.  She is my companion when I’m working at home.  She loves to hang out in the office with me.  A few of my B2B business clients have dogs in their offices.  I enjoy meeting them when I visit.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and the American Humane Association (AHA) have deemed the month of October as National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.

Have you ever adopted a shelter dog?  I have had two.  My first dog is now in animal heaven and Haddie, a lab-hound mix is currently a member of the family.  Dogs are amazing, supportive, and heroic companions.

History of Adopt a Shelter Dog Month

Since 1981, the American Humane Society has celebrated “Adopt-a-Dog Month” each October in an effort to help the estimated 3-4 million animals waiting in shelters every year.  The goal is to find the loving, forever homes that each dog deserve.

Help an Animal and Help Yourself

Consider adopting a shelter dog.  You will be helping to save an animals life and improving your own life as well.  You will be the dog’s hero!  Your local shelter is the perfect place to find dogs of every breed, size, age, and personality — all waiting for a loving home.

But If you can’t adopt there are other things you can do to help:

  • Use the social media hashtag #savedogs on posts.
  • Donate to your local humane society. They can always use money, dog food, used towels and blankets, dog collars and leashes.
  • Volunteer!  Pet the animals, take them for a walk, clean their cage, feed them.  Your help will be greatly appreciated.
  • Run a fundraiser with the profits going to the Humane Society.
  • Take pictures of animals at the shelter and post on social media.  You might help them find a new home.

October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, which means it’s the perfect opportunity to help homeless animals in shelters all across America find loving, happy homes.

Now in celebration of Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, I think I will go take my Haddie for a walk.  Her tail is wagging so I think she likes that idea!
