In our last post, Joining Facebook,; Learn How to Get Started, we provided details about setting up your Facebook account. Now it is time to actually start using it to connect with friends. As you become more comfortable your connections will increase.
Interacting with your friends on Facebook is easy to do and can be done in a number of ways.
Here are a few:
Navigating through your feed, you’ll see recent posts from your friends. Click on one of the options below it to let them know how you feel about it.
When you’re surfing the web or scrolling through Facebook, keep an eye out for that famous little “share”’ button. If you see a recipe that you think your aunt will be interested in, click on that share button and mess around with the options. Either share it directly to her wall or share it to your own wall and tag her in it. In response, the client will see that you are paying attention to their site and have shared their information.
We all love to take selfies with each other. Next time you have the opportunity to snap a picture with a client, do so. To tag your friend in a picture that he/she is in, click on the picture, click on the tag button, and search their name! Then, their friends can see the picture you took together.
To send a friend a message, either click on the speech bubbles beside your notifications button, or click on the “chat” button at the bottom of your screen. Click “new message” or the little pencil and paper button to type your note. Search for your friend’s name, make them the recipient, and click send!
To create a page just for your friend circle, coworkers, classmates, or other social groups, click on the drop-down arrow at the top right corner of the home page. Click “create group” to get started. You can make it public or private and just for the members to see. If creating a group for business purposes always ask people if they wish to join. Never put business acquaintances in a group you plan to sell to without permission.
It will be much easier to do all of the above if you also have facebook on your phone and all devices are synced.
You can download the app to your smartphone or tablet. This allows you to scroll through your feed on the go, update your friends on your whereabouts and latest adventures, and upload pictures from your device. The controls are a little different, but they’re easy to adjust to. Download the Facebook Messenger App to easily access your conversations with your friends.
In our next post we will cover adding sized cover photos, and adding photos and videos to your timeline on Facebook.
